Sep. 22, 2021

Veterinary drug liquid injection is a sterile solution or emulsion injected into the body of livestock and poultry. It is mainly suitable for livestock and poultry that are not suitable for oral administration and drugs that are not suitable for oral administration. Here JOYCOME shows you some common liquid injections for animals, including their indications.

Amoxicillin

Description

Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic broad-spectrum penicillin with bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The bactericidal effect is due to the inhibition of cell wall synthesis. Amoxicillin is excreted mainly in the urine and a major portion may also be excreted in the bile.

Indications

Infections of the gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinary tracts caused by amoxicillin-sensitive microorganisms such as Campylobacter, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, Escherichia coli, Tantrum, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, penicillinase-negative Staphylococcus and Streptococcus spp. Calves, cattle, goats, sheep and pigs.

Calcium gluconate

Indications

Calcium gluconate is useful in the treatment of hypocalcaemia in cattle, horses, sheep, dogs and cats, e.g. milk production fever in cows.

Dosage and administration.

Administered by intravenous, subcutaneous or intraperitoneal injection using appropriate aseptic technique. For intravenous administration to horses. Warm the solution to body temperature before use and inject slowly. Intravenous administration is recommended for the treatment of acute conditions.

Ceftiofur

Description.

Ceftiofur is a semi-synthetic, third generation, broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic for the control of respiratory bacterial infections in cattle, with additional effects on foot rot and acute uterine infections in cattle. It has broad activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It exerts its antibacterial action by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. Ceftiofur is mainly present in urine and faeces.

Indications.

Bovine: For the treatment of bacterial respiratory disease associated with Pasteurella haemolytica. For the treatment of diseases associated with Clostridium necrophorum and Pseudomonas melanogaster. For the treatment of the bacterial component of acute postpartum (puerperal) uterine inflammation within 10 days of calving, associated with ceftiofur-susceptible Escherichia coli, Vibrio septicum and Clostridium necrophorum.

Enrofloxacin

Description

Enrofloxacin belongs to the quinolone group of drugs and is mainly bactericidal against Gram-negative bacteria such as Campylobacter and Escherichia coli. E. coli, Haemophilus, Bartonella, Mycoplasma and Salmonella.

Indications

Gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by enrofloxacin-susceptible microorganisms such as Campylobacter, eg. Escherichia coli, Haemophilus, Mycoplasma, Bartonella and Salmonella. Calves, cattle, sheep, goats and pigs.

Gentamicin

Description.

Gentamicin Sulphate 50ml Injection belongs to the aminoglycoside group and acts mainly on Gram, negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Bartonella and Salmonella. The bactericidal effect is to inhibit bacterial protein synthesis.

Indications.

Gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by gentamicin-susceptible bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella and Salmonella, calves, cattle, goats, sheep and pigs.
