Tylosin+Gentamicin, a simple method that solves three major troubles for chicken farmers!

Jan. 25, 2024

The combination of Tylosin and Gentamicin can be considered a "panacea" for the treatment of three common mixed infections in chicken farms. I believe many farmers have encountered them before. Let's take a look together.

1 Mixed infection of chicken dysentery and mycoplasma

Now is the peak period for chicks to replenish their pens. In the first two weeks of picking up chicks, they are susceptible to infection with dysentery and Mycoplasma synovialis, leading to a decrease in survival rate and an increase in mortality rate.

Chicken white dysentery causes diarrhea, anal sphincter in chicks, while Mycoplasma synovialis causes joint swelling, paralysis, inability to stand, and affects feeding.

Because the combination of Tylosin and Gentamicin can kill Salmonella and inhibit Mycoplasma gallisepticum in chicken synovial fluid. So, when chicks are infected with a mixture of chicken dysentery and mycoplasma, feeding Tylosin and Gentamicin has a good effect on treatment.

2.  Cock Nose and Mycoplasma Coinfection

In the winter and spring seasons, infectious rhinitis in chickens is prone to outbreaks, and it is often secondary or co infected with Mycoplasma gallisepticum, which increases the complexity of the disease and the difficulty of treatment.

A mixed feeling sick chicken with elevated body temperature, runny nose, tears, swollen eyes and face, often accompanied by bubbles in the corners of the eyes.

After dissecting the sick and dead chickens, we can see that there are a lot of nasal fluid and yellow cheese in the nasal cavity, and there are a lot of foam between the intestines in the abdominal cavity.

The combination of Tylosin and Gentamicin can not only kill Haemophilus parahaemolyticus, but also inhibit Mycoplasma gallisepticum. Therefore, when the above symptoms occur in the backup chicken, the two can be administered for treatment.

3Coinfection of Escherichia coli and Mycoplasma.

In winter, sudden changes in temperature, poor ventilation, and high ammonia concentration in chicken coops can all promote the mixed infection of Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Escherichia coli.

The diseased chicken with mixed sensations is lethargic, with bubbles in the corners of the eyes and swollen eyelids. The eyelids of the seriously ill chicken protrude outward, resembling "goldfish eyes".

The wall of the air sac of the sick and dead chickens is turbid, and there is a lot of foam between the intestines in the abdominal cavity, sometimes accompanied by peritonitis and enteritis.

When young chickens encounter this situation, feeding sick chickens with Tylosin and Gentamicin has a good therapeutic effect on the mixed infection of chronic respiratory diseases and Escherichia coli.

Usage: Add 100 milligrams of gentamicin per liter of water and use continuously for 5 days; Add 4-20 grams of Tylosin to each ton of feed and use continuously for 5-6 days. (Interval of 4-5 days, followed by another course of treatment).

The above are the three wonderful uses of Tylosin and Gentamicin in chicken farms.
