Pharmacotherapeutical Class :
Tetramisole hcl bolus 600mg is a broad spectrum and powerfull anthelmintic. it acts entirely against the parasites of the nematodes group of the gastro-intestinal worms. also it is highly effective against the large lungworms of the respiratory system, the eye-worms and heartworms of ruminants .

Indications:
Tetramisole hcl bolus 600mg is used for the treatment of gastro-intestinal and pulmonary strongyloidiasis of goats ,sheep and cattle in particular , it is very effective against the following species:
Ascaris suum ,haemonchus spp,neoascaris vitulorum ,trichostrongylus spp,oesophagostormum spp, nematodirus spp, dictyocaulus spp,marshallagia marshalli,thelazia spp,bunostomum spp.
Tetramisole is not effective against muellerius capillaris as well as against the pre-larva stages of ostertagia spp. in addition it does not exhibit ovicide properties .
All animals ,independently of the grade of infection should be treated again 2-3 weeks after the first administration . this will remove the newly matured worms, which have emerged in the meantime from the mucusa.

Dosage and Administration:
In general,the dose of tetramisole hcl bolus 600mg for ruminants is 15mg/kg body weight is recommended and a maximum single oral dose 4.5g.
In particulars for the tetramisole hcl bolus 600mg:
lamb and small goats :½ a bolus per 20kg body weight .
Sheep and goats: 1 bolus per 40kg body weight.
Calves :1 ½ bolus per 60kg of body weight.

Contraindications and undesirable effects:
At therapeutic doses,tetramisole is safe even for the pregnant animals. the safety index is 5-7for goats and sheep and 3-5 for cattle. however, some animals may become anxious and present excitation,muscle tremors, salivation and lacrymation 10-30minutes follows drug administration.if these conditions persist a veterinarian should be consulted.

Warnings :
Long term treatment with doses higher than 20mg/kg body weight induces convulsions to sheep and goats.

Interaction with other medication -incompatibilities:
Combined use of tetramisole and issonicotinic derivative or like compound is contraindicated due to enhancement of toxic effect of levamisole theoretically .
Tetramisole hcl bolus 600mg should not be combined with carbon tetrachloride , hexachoroethane and bithionol at least 72 hours after treatment ,because such combinations are toxic if given within 14days .

Withdrawal Period:
Meat : 3days
Milk : 1 days

Storage:
Store in a cool, dry and dark place below 30°c.
